Recovery Inspiration

When you have time to lay about, you start to notice the little things that need doing or at least the things I’d like to do.

My kitchen curtains for instance, I’ve wanted to make a new valance for a long time.  The curtains I have now I made from fabric given to me.  Since I didn’t have enough fabric, they are perfectly straight.  And I never loved the fabric.

Now this fabric, I love.  It’s Sweetwater Metro Stripe Light Green by Moda.

It just seems like a happy kitchen curtain fabric.  I need to figure out if I can squeeze them into my budget… but I think this fabric would work in my kitchen quite nicely.  A little valance would be just perfect, sort of like the one shown above from Pottery Barn.  Simple and sweet.  With a lighter fabric like this cotton, I would just need a good liner at the back.

I’m also anxious to get working on my sewing projects that are patiently waiting for me.  You know, the projects I already have the fabric for…

I saw this sweet little Strawflower dress over at Posie Gets Cozy and fell in love.  It would look so sweet on my girls.  The pattern is Simplicity 5695 for Toddlers and only goes up to size 6, but since my girls are so petite, I think I can lengthen it out and make it work perfectly for them.

I found fabrics from one line, which I almost never do, to make the dresses.  The line is from Michael Miller and is quite eclectic, which does work for me.

Kinda funky… but I think will be very cute with the pattern.

I’ve got the ideas… now all I need is the energy…  and that’s coming.

Hi Calli! I just wanted to let you know how much I like your blog. I found it a couple of days ago surfing the net, searching for sewing ideas, and here you are, on the other side of the world, sharing the same ideals about life, spreading the word about how simple, little details, can actually make us really happy!

I am from Argentina, and it’s been 8 years that I moved to Buenos Aires (the big city) but I was actually raised in a small coast town called Villa Gesell, and my Mom and Grandparents lived most of their lives in the countryside, and I always received their influences, therefore I love to cook, sew, and make all kinds of handcrafts, which I do although I live in a very small flat in a very big city…

Well, that’s a little something about me… I will continue to visit your blog!

    Big kiss from Argentina!
