Puzzle Pieces

I’m sharing just a photo today.  It’s a photo of the sunrise above the mountain just east of my home that I took last Wednesday, February 1.

When my girls woke to see the amazing red, pink, and purple sky that morning they hurried me outside to go see it with them. Luckily, I grabbed my camera as we walked out the door.

We were all three outside on our front lawn in just PJ’s and slippers on a winter morning.  Neighbors were driving by on their way to work so I didn’t even change my camera settings, I just snapped a few pictures.  But mostly we stood quietly and looked up into the sky.

Little did I know what a blessed sunrise it was.  You’ve heard the old adage, “Red sky in the morn, sailor take warn.”  Well just as this beautiful sunrise predicted, it brought a snowstorm that evening- one of few we’ve had this very dry season.

For my girls and me, this sunrise struck us deeply and we were filled with a sense of awe.  As we admired the overwhelming beauty of it, I thought in my heart that surely it confirms that there is a God above.  For who else but a divine creator could create such a sky?

I woke early this morning and I remembered last week’s sunrise and the snow storm it brought.  Then I was struck by how our life is like a great puzzle.  Things happen to us that we can’t make sense of at the time and it is like a piece of the puzzle.  We can’t see the whole picture.  Some pieces look like a beautiful sunrise that we take the time to really see.  There are pieces that cause us anguish or pain and pieces that are joyful.  Some pieces rock us to our very soul.

Often the pieces don’t make sense, they just lay there on the table, not connected and we can’t see how they can possibly fit into our life.

Then something happens and the pieces fit together.  And suddenly we see a bigger picture.  We understand.

You are so right! All the more reason why we have to have faith that His direction and will are correct and we just need to hang on and have faith. Everyday I love Him more than the day before, as my life unfolds. Thanks for making me realize it again. Candy
