Printable St. Patrick’s Day Card

Every year on St. Patrick’s Day, my dear friend gives each of my children a card with a $2 bill.

The tradition began when she was a child, when her own neighbor gave her a $2 bill each year on St. Patrick’s day.

He told her a $2 bill was lucky.

My kids sure think so.  They’ve saved every bill she’s given them…  a little stack of lucky bills in their piggy banks.

The tradition is so delightful, I’ve created a little printable card just for you.  Simply print it out on smooth white card stock.  (Or white paper and mount it to card stock.)

In case you are wondering where to find one, most banks have $2 bills upon request… but if you can’t lay your hands on one, make it do and give 2 – $1 bills instead.

I’ve tied a $2 bill up with ribbon in a bow and attached it to my card with a glue dot.  If you want to get really fancy and have a little time on your hands, here is a link to fold your bill into a shamrock that I found on Craft.  How cool is that?

Click here if you would like to download my printable card.

Wishing you all

a very lucky day!

St. Patrick’s Day Fun

Looking for a bit of St. Paddy’s day fun with the kids?  We’re going to be watching this old classic.

Do you remember it?  It’s Darby O’Gill and the Little People.  And it was one of my favorites as a kid.  I loved the leprechauns, the trickery, and the music…

“Oh she’s my dear, my darlin’ one, my smilin’ and beguilin’ one.  I love the the ground she walks upon.  Me darlin’ Irish girl.”

Guess who’s singing that little lyric?  Why, it’s the very young Sean Connery, that’s who (before he became, Bond, James Bond.)

Now I just need to come up with a green treat.

Maybe some Key Lime Cupcakes.  They look wonderful, but they taste even better.

Mint Brownies are always a big hit at our house.  They may come out the winner.

Either way, it’s the time spent together that we’ll love.
