Hurrah for London Olympics

We’re pleased as punch about the start of the London Olympics around here.

With opening ceremony tonight I’m planning a fun little English meal of Fish and Chips.  Since my husband lived in England for a few years I hope my version is up to snuff.  At least I’m armed with Sarson’s Malt Vinegar, so how far can I go wrong?

I’m super tempted to make this cake, which I didn’t end up making for my girl’s British birthday bash last March.  I made them Red Velvet cupcakes with Union Jack Flags- much easier in the frantic pre-birthday dash.  This cake is just too cool and really doesn’t look THAT hard once you read the instructions…. just sorta hard.

The other Olympic Project we are going to try to tackle today is embellishing t-shirts with Union Jacks.  It’ll be a little sewing lesson for my girls.  We’ll be sure to share next week if they turn out.

I’ve picked up my husband’s favorite hobnobs and we’ll be planting ourselves in front of the tele for the show tonight and for the next few weeks I’m sure.

Ten Ways I Know Summer is Here

1. I should buy stock in Bandaid.

2. The laundry seems to have tripled.

3. I’m pretty sure the laundry stains have quadrupled.  I should buy stock in Fels Naptha.

4. My floors are dirty about five minutes after I mop.

5. It’s a great day when I can wear my cut-off sweatpants and no shoes all day.

6. I am filling my hummingbird feeder every time I turn around.

7. I can’t seem to get on a schedule.

8. The weeds are growing faster than I can pull them.

9. All I want is salad for dinner.

10. I dream of lying about all day in my porch swing, eating strawberries and sipping lemonade, and reading a great book.  I dream about it as I run kids to soccer and swim team…

I know summer doesn’t officially start for a few more days, but it’s definitely here at our home.
